State Compliance
At Kids Cove Respite Home, we believe in complete transparency and are committed to supporting foster families through respite care.
Kids Cove Respite Home Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a clear mission: to raise funding and awareness for the critical need for respite care in the foster care community. This is just the beginning—our long-term vision is to expand support for foster families across Missouri.
While Kids Cove itself is not directly licensed by the State of Missouri as a foster care provider, the foster care license is held by James and Kate Radford, who have been licensed foster parents and respite care providers since 2020. As a result, we operate under the same guidelines as any traditional foster home, as mandated by Missouri’s Children's Division.
How We Operate
-
We follow prudent parenting standards, making careful and sensible decisions that ensure a child’s health, safety, and best interests while fostering their emotional and developmental growth.
-
We undergo quarterly inspections and annual license renewals to maintain compliance.
-
We are limited to six placements at a time, in accordance with state regulations.
-
We do not use corporal punishment—instead, we utilize Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) as the foundation for behavioral correction.
Missouri no longer licenses nonprofit organizations for direct foster care, so we have worked closely with the Children’s Division to structure Kids Cove according to their recommendations.
Our Funding & Financial Transparency
Kids Cove Respite Home is fully funded by donations, grants, and proceeds from Kids Cove Bakery and Cafe. We strictly follow nonprofit guidelines set by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, and the Department of Revenue. Every dollar raised directly supports the growth and mission of Kids Cove, including:
✔ Raising awareness about the need for respite care
✔ Maintaining the property
✔ Paying staff
✔ Covering utilities
✔ Supporting the cost of care
✔ Expanding our impact for foster families
To ensure full transparency, we invite you to review our Annual Report that link is on our front page.
